3/13: 347 words. My watch thinks I have exercised today. But I haven’t. It’s just that my heart rate elevated for a while due to stress. After finishing the chapter I’d been working on, I realized that at some point in the last few days, I had deleted the entire preceding chapter. I don’t know how or when.
I panicked. Scrivener does such a good job preserving things that I hadn’t backed it up. I kind of freaked out at the thought of having to re-create those 2,362 words.
So I went to a search engine and found out that Scrivener does automatic backups. But it only stores the last five sessions for each project. Then I figured out how to retrieve backups. I went to the furthest one back, praying that I hadn’t deleted it more than three days ago. If I had, my ship was sunk.
It was there. In its entirety. The coders at Scrivener had saved my bacon. However, that fiasco derailed my writing for the rest of the morning. I start a new chapter tomorrow. And I am now 2/3 of the way through writing the first draft.
