1/21: 653 words. There are some characters that you create to be docile space-fillers. But then they assert themselves and start giving themselves a personality. Before long, they’re integral to the story and there’s no way to move it forward without them. Then they start getting themselves into weird situations that require time and pages to get them out of it.

It’s a fun evolution. And in a lot of ways, I feel like I had very little to do with it. Sometimes, it feels much more like I’m pulling these stories out of the ether rather than from the inside of my head.
